Stop Dreaming About Success

Feb 9, 2021

How many times in your life have you dreamed about succeeding in your endeavors? To live absolutely free of a boss, energized every day, and earning the income you’ve always dreamed of?

We all have dreams that we want to realize, whether we realize it or not.

In fact, everyone wants to do what they love for a living, even if they can’t find a way to make it happen. Therein lies the truth – most people can’t seem to find a way to create an income from their passions.

They just keep dreaming about it.

Start Doing Something

There’s a saying that 2 minutes of doing something is 100% more productive than 20 hours of thinking about something.

Why do you think successful people are successful? That rich people are rich? That the wealthy stay wealthy?

It’s because behind their thoughts, ideas, and ambitions there’s a differentiating factor than most people:

Action.

Whether or not they are physically doing something themselves or have systems in place to do it for them (for instance, cleaning your bathroom or emailing that next potential client), action is being taken based on a thought.

If your dreams are so important to you, why haven’t you done anything about them? What’s stopping you? What do you believe is holding you back?

Start Planning Your Success

Imagination is the key to unlocking a happy life, but once you go through the door that leads to success, you have to walk along a trail that actually leads there.

Here’s the thing: if you don’t actually start walking toward a predestined goal, then you’ll end up lost in the woods of life. Unless that’s your goal – to let life lead you where it will – it’s highly recommended that you figure this out well ahead of time.

Here’s a short exchange between Alice and the Cheshire Cat in the book Alice In Wonderland:

“I don’t much care where–” said Alice.

“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.

“-so long as I get SOMEWHERE,” Alice added as an explanation.

Determine Your Financial Goals

Why do we go into business for ourselves?

Well, there are many different reasons, and each person has their own logic for leaving the imagined security of a nine-to-five job and chasing their dreams.

Most importantly – and let’s be frank about this – you want to earn money on your own terms.

In fact, you want to be able to earn as much of it as you humanly can. If you’re an entrepreneur, then you understand that the sky’s the limit when it comes to your potential income.

There’s nothing wrong with this, of course, and anyone who says otherwise will never understand your drive to succeed.

But, if you want to succeed financially (which inevitably will solve a LOT of your earthly problems), you need to pick a number.

Any number, in fact, as long as it’s believable by you.

For instance, let’s say you want to earn $100,000 a year. That’s a pretty high income, and is the first six-figure amount most people think of.

Now, what would you have to make each month, on average, to make this a reality?

Breaking It Down

If you want to earn $100,000 a year as an entrepreneur, it’s best to break it down into believable chunks.

There are 12 months in a year, so $100,000 ÷ 12 = ~$8333.33 p/mo would earn you a six-figure income.

Your other option could be to divide this into a daily amount, so $100,000 ÷ 365 = ~$273.97 per day to make six figures.

This isn’t so bad if you consider the fact that working a full time job earning between $10 to $20 per hour (the U.S. national average range), you would only bring in up to $41,600 before taxes, working 40 hours per week consistently.

You might already be doing the nine-to-five gig, and that’s okay – but if you want to actually make your dreams a reality?

Well, you’re going to have to figure out a way to earn that $273.97 every single day.

Make Action A Habit

When your thoughts are aligned with your actions, many great things will happen in your life.

As Americans, and modern people in general, we’ve been preconditioned to sit around on our cell phones, laptops, and in front of televisions to consume content every single waking moment of our life.

Well, who do you think is making all of that content?

That’s right – people who do it for a living.

Even more importantly, the people who create for a living – whether it’s a blog post, a television commercial, or even a simple social media graphic – have decided to take a path of action and do what they love to do.

Well, let’s hope that they like it!

Any kind of action related to what you want to happen will bring you closer to realizing your dreams.

Want to have an online business where you can work from your laptop? Simple! Go buy a laptop if you don’t already have one, set up the proper platforms, and start marketing to customers.

Determined to make a living as a touring musician? Great! Start practicing and memorizing your material, network and collaborate with other musicians, put the band together, set up your tour locations and performance dates, and hit the road.

Always wanted to be a travel blogger and make money? Fantastic! Build up your online audience, sell your possessions, create a travel plan and catch the next plane to Puerto Rico.

Understand And Use T.E.A.R.

In my experience, I’ve come to understand that if we want to change our current situation, we have to take a logical, careful, systematic approach to success.

The human mind never ceases to amaze, and once you realize how manifesting your dreams actually works, you’ll be able to correct your trajectory if you get off course.

Thoughts are the first part of the mental process. These come in the form of a regular idea, an inspiration, a general concept or even a spark of divine revelation.

Emotions naturally follow thoughts. These manifest out of love of the thought (joy, ecstasy, excitement, etc.) or hatred of the potential failure (dread, fear, terror).

Action is the only cure for negative emotions, and is the only way to manifest your positive emotions. Many times you’ll have many emotions at once, but one or the other will dominate your actions (choosing love of the thought will drive you into action, and fear will prevent action).

Reality is always the effect of action. No matter what that action was, or how it was performed and against whom, reality is a mirror of actions that took place.

Inspiration Is Caused By Action

You’ll never accomplish anything that you want to if you don’t physically get up and make it happen. Many people wait for inspiration to strike, but the truth is this:

When you start to do something, your mind will become inspired by the action itself. It will no longer be the idea that caused your inspiration but the action you took to start making it happen.
